Jen Bowlds
Piano Studio

Piano practice cultivates creativity, focus, discipline, problem-solving, grit, patience, resilience, self-expression and a deep appreciation for the arts—skills and values that enrich life far beyond the piano. My goal as piano teacher is to inspire a lifelong piano practice through lessons that nurture music literacy, technical proficiency and artistic expression. My students are encouraged to recognize their inherent musical abilities, develop confidence in their skills, and find lasting fulfillment in their musical pursuits, so they will return to the piano for years to come.

About Jen

  • Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, MTNA

  • Graduate Certificate in Piano Pedagogy

  • 20+ years in Education and Youth Development

At the core of my teaching is a deep belief in the value of music education. Music has been a guiding force in my life from childhood, opening doors to unique experiences and connecting me with a vibrant community of inspiring individuals. It has provided opportunities for personal growth, creativity, intellectual development, and the cultivation of essential life skills. My goal is for students to not only learn to play the piano but also to experience the profound joy and lasting benefits that come from engaging with music.

Commitment to Growth and Excellence
I’ve been a student of the piano since age six and continue to hone my practice today. My commitment to lifelong learning keeps me at the forefront of piano pedagogy, ensuring I offer the most current, effective teaching methods and high quality instruction to each of my students. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM), and member of MTNA, CSMTA, DAMTA, the Piano Inspires community, the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, and the Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner program, I stay active in the music education community, both nationally and locally.

Music Community Engagement
As piano study is often a solo pursuit, I believe it’s essential to provide opportunities for my students to connect with others and see themselves as part of a larger music community. In my studio, I encourage students to engage with music beyond their individual practice through partner and group learning experiences, performing with and for each other, and participating in events that celebrate music and musicians. I also dedicate time to service as a nonprofit leader, board director and volunteer, seeking to make a positive impact on my community and ensuring access to opportunities for the next generation of musicians.

I’m eager to share my love of piano with students who are ready to take on the challenge of learning and growing through music. If that’s you or your child, let’s connect and explore further!

Beginning Students

Building a strong foundation and fostering a love of music making.

These lessons introduce new students to the basics of piano in a fun and engaging way. We focus on developing fundamental skills in note reading, rhythm, technique, and theory through a combination of structured learning and playful exploration. Using proven methods and materials that resonate with children, students build confidence in their abilities and set the stage for lifelong musical study.

Lifelong Learners

Supportive and engaging, at your pace.

Whether you’re returning to the piano after years away or starting fresh, these lessons are tailored to meet your unique needs and goals. We start with the basics—learning to read music, understanding rhythm, and developing proper technique—while keeping the process enjoyable and stress-free. We use music and materials specifically for adult learners, ensuring that the approach is both relevant and engaging. Students progress at their own pace while discovering the joy of making music as an adult.

Expanding and refining skills and deepening musical expression.

Students who have already developed a foundational understanding of the piano are ready to take their playing to the next level, refining technique, expanding repertoire, and exploring more complex musical forms and concepts. Emphasis is placed on developing a deeper understanding of score interpretation and historical context, advanced techniques, and helping students become more expressive.
